President's Letter: June 2016

The 2016 Presidential Primary Election is just around the corner on Tuesday, June 7th. Chances are you have a preference for who should be the next President of the United States, however, maybe you're not so sure on further offices down ballot.

The League of Women Voters has launched a new website, Voter's Edge, compiled of candidate information for every single office on the ballot. If you have any last minute questions about candidates, check out their website for further information: votersedge.org/ca

Our 20th Annual Clairemont Garden Tour last month was amazing! Thank you to all the homeowners, participants, volunteers, and attendees for, again, making this one of the most successful garden tours we've ever held. Special thank you goes out to those on the Garden Tour Committee and chair Kyley Christy for organizing again this year.

We are always on the lookout for input and involvement with our Garden Tour. It's a labor of love every year. If you would like to be involved and help organizing next year's tour, please reach out at GardenTour@ClairemontOnline.com.

President's Letter: June 2015

Thank you again to all those who attended, volunteered, and helped sponsor last month's Clairemont Garden Tour. It was our most successful ever -- over $10,000 raised toward our Clairemont Town Council community grants.

For more information on our grants, please visit our website: ClairemontOnline.com/Grants

Movies in the Park is coming up this month -- Saturday, June 20th at North Clairemont Community Park at 7:00pm.

We will be screening the Academy-Award winning animated film "Happy Feet" (Rated PG). Come on out for family-friendly entertainment, games, and prizes!

There's been a ton of e-mails and phone calls about the downed Clairemont sign at Balboa Ave and 805, and there's been diligent communication between the Town Council and Councilman Chris Cate's office in working to get that sign back up. (H/T to Ralph Petrozello for the pictures.)

Awesome props to city council staffer Allen Young on working with us to speed up replacement efforts.

President's Letter: June 2014

I'm sure by now you're sick of hearing about the Clairemont Garden Tour -- but, wow! What a success! Nothing but raves from patrons about the gardens, the Expo at the SDG&E Energy Innovation Center, the food, and the community pride shown that day.

This year's tour was one of our most successful, and we couldn't have done it without the support of our sponsors, our volunteers, our 2014 Garden Tour Committee, and you -- the ticket buyer, of course! All the revenue generated from the Clairemont Garden Tour goes right back into our neighborhoods through Clairemont Town Council community grants.

We work hard to make every tour better year after year. If you have questions, concerns, compliments, or even complaints about this year's tour, please let us know at GardenTour@ClairemontOnline.com

Our Clairemont Town Council general meetings are held at 7:00pm inside the Cadman Elementary cafeteria (4370 Kamloop Avenue, San Diego, CA 92117). Here are some information about our upcoming meetings:

Thursday, June 5th -- David Akin, our Customer Advocate from the City of San Diego's Public Utilities Department will join us again. Also, former City Councilwoman Donna Frye will be asking for support for an open government ballot measure proposal.

Please note -- our July meeting will not be the first Thursday of the month due to the Independence Day holiday weekend. Instead, we will be meeting the second Thursday on July 10th -- same time, same place. We are working on getting our recently appointed District 2 City Councilman Ed Harris out to meet with us and answer questions.

Also, to ensure that you plan on attending our July and August summer meetings, we will be serving pizza. Local pizza. The best kind, of course! So, please be sure to attend and get involved in our community.

Working for you, Clairemont!
